Igbo Poem Number One
A muru m when Onwa was just past full.
Gini Bu m relationship to ebe?
and it's hard to tell.
A kworo m that home is where there are people waiting for you.
A kworo m a bu m onye ala
a kworo m home is where there are still trees for me to speak with
the jade green pine trees outside my window today are mara ma!
A kworo m a muru m when Onwa was just past full
meaning that when I feel out of ebe
out of Ulo I look up
to remmember who I am
Gini bu m my relationship to ebe?
A de m hard gwara m.
A kworo m that home (ulo?)
is where there are people who understand you.
A de me nervous when I struggle na Igbo.
*note: I don't have an Igbo keyboard so forgive the lack of accent markings. Let me know if I should also post in English what I was tryig to say in Igbo. Daluu for reading!
